Stop wigging out, people. According to Miley Cyrus, she is definitely not going to set fire to the Hannah Montana hairpiece that made her famous, despite recent quotes that suggested otherwise. "I just made a joke and everyone started flipping out," Miley told the Montreal Gazette. "I'm not really going to burn it. I already burned it. Just kidding!"
If she has been feeling nostalgic, though, it's no wonder. This season marks the last one for her Disney Channel hit. And the singer insists that she has no regrets about saying goodbye to Hannah for good. "You don't want it to grow up too much, where the younger audience feel they can't watch the show anymore," she said. "But also, [don't] go backwards and make it so young that you lose the older fans that you have. So I think it's just kind of come to a point where there's not much more we could do with [the show]."
Sentai has some of its anniversary seasons and I'll talk a little bit of their significance to the franchise as a whole:
Kosoku Sentai Turboranger- This show before starting its proper series, introduced the Sentai groups (minus Goranger and JAKQ) to how they fought against the evil forces of their season. It introduced the idea of teenagers struggling with high school (in contrast to Liveman's College students) fighting against evil forces that humanity itself has released because of wickedness. This show also introduced the first ultimate combination. This show seemed to be the first one considered to be adapted into MMPR.
Mirai Sentai Timeranger- Although not the 25th entry (it's 24th), however I count this as an anniversary season. Why? Episode 51 was simply a special presentation where the Timerangers go back into the past to meet the various Sentai groups from 1975-2000. True to its name, it was launched during the year 2000, the start of the new millenium and it fully acknowledged Goranger and JAKQ.
Hyaku Sentai Gaoranger- It didn't have a crossover with Timeranger (the PR version did), instead it had a crossover called Gaoranger vs. Super Sentai with the dream team of Big One, Mega Pink, Ginga Blue, Go Yellow and Red Falcon and eventually a showcase of red rangers to encourage the Gaorangers. The show introduced the first multi-gattai robots and had the plot twist where the organization always had a change of leader. It also crammed in one ancient guy trapped in suspended animation to five modern day heroes. LOL I wonder why I'm still a fan of the Shirogane-Sae shipping?
Go Go Sentai Boukenger- I kind of thought that the phrase "go go" is almost a tribute to MMPR's tagline "Go Go Power Rangers". Maybe. Being the 30th anniversary, it had short clips starting in episode four about one Sentai group after the other, even a "documentary" on the Super Sentai shows. The show was popular to both Sentai fans and Power Rangers fans, mixing both original PR elements with original Sentai elements to make the show a memorable experience. Its anniversary team-up "Boukenger vs. Super Sentai" was a nice one but it wasn't as awesome as Gaoranger vs. Super Sentai IMO.
Sad news to report -- first Hannah Montana, then Wizards of Waverly Place, and now, Suite Life has just confirmed that they're filming their last season as well. Debby tweeted, "It just hit me. Tomorrow morning, we're beginning production on our last week of Suite Life. So much has happened in the last 3 years. To be honest, I've never felt more settled and in tune with the cast as we are right now. This is gonna be a hard week."
The S.S. Tipton is finally docking! Debby Ryan began to reminisce about her time on Suite Life now that the show is wrapping up its final season. And she seems to be a little teary-eyed about it! "It just hit me. Tomorrow morning, we're beginning production on our last week of Suite Life. So much has happened in the last 3 years," Debby tweeted. "To be honest, I've never felt more settled and in tune with the cast as we are right now. This is gonna be a hard week." Awww, that's so suite, er, sweet! But all the nostalgia won't prevent the cast from being their normal goofy selves. Not long after Debby's wistful tweet, her costar Dylan Sprouse sent along this message to her.
Okay I did NOT go to the Bandai Musuem but I hope I can go there soon to at least make me feel young for a little while. Hee hee. (Some pics taken from Henshin Grid)
In memory of the first group of rangers who fought to defend the world, the Gorangers.
A dedication to all the red rangers from Goranger to Boukenger.
A collection of plastic Sentai accessories. I wonder if some of them were used for the show.
The toys' section- I would hate to take a child here and me lose my temper! Well, too bad I've outgrown childhood!
The Sentai hall of fame.
A loadful of mecha... wow! If they were all real, Japan would be done for! A PR fan would say, "Zord overload!"
A display of the earlier main robots. PR fans would be calling them Megazords.
A collection of Sentai jackets (wish I had the Hurricanger jacket... hee hee). Note there are Power Rangers Wild Force toys so let's stop the PR-Sentai fanboy war!
Sun Vulcan and Bioman toys.
Maskman toys and above it... Changeman toys. The Galaxy Robo is my favorite. Remembered these when I was a child.
Dynaman and Turboranger toys. Below it, we also have Jet Garuda mixed into the collection.
Ever wondered which character in Good Luck Charlie is equal to? guess what, I found out the following expies of the Duncan Family members in other shows. For the character of Teddy Duncan, her personality and traits are equal to that of Lizzie McGuire's, minus the toon alter-ego.
For Gabe Duncan, his personality is a mix of Matt McGuire and Max Russo from Lizzie McGuire and Wizards of Waverly Place, respectively. The Matt part is that Gabe doesn't like his sister Charlie, like Matt sometimes don't get along with Lizzie, and the Max part is that Gabe is close to his older sister Teddy like Max is to Alex Russo. both Matt and Max are trouble makers like Gabe is.
For Amy Duncan who is the mom of the Duncan kids, she is more like Carey Martin from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, since Carey's personality is the same in Amy's.
For Bob Duncan who is the father of the Duncan kids, both his appearance and personality are that of Jerry Russo of Wizards of Waverly Place. not only does he resemble Jerry, but also his personality of being a bumbling dad by Jerry is there too.
For PJ Duncan, his personality is that of Jackson Stewart of Hannah Montana while his appearance is almost that of season 1 Chad Dylan Cooper from Sonny with a Chance. despite being a hard-working older brother, he still gets a bit of trouble like Jackson does.
For Charlie Duncan (for those you have no idea, she's a girl with a boy's name for a shortened variation), although there's no other babies on Disney Channel shows, she is patterned after Michelle Tanner from Full House. Charlie however, is a one-baby character than two in Michelle's.
For the Duncan Family as a whole, they are reminiscent of the Stevens Family of Even Stevens. even the show they're on is a new generation version of Even Stevens.
So far sentai later introduced Battlizers in the regular line of the series. These are "upgrades" which are used when the situation gets too tough. Rather than being individual, all five don these. Fiveman was the first to present the team battlizer. This is when they were facing stronger monsters from Chevalier. This allows them to break the most unbreakable matter but it was rarely used due to it being too cheesy. I mean, Five Red was able to defeat Rock-Fossil Jin with this one, an incomplete Five team defeat the Ammonite Jin with this and eventually Five Red used it to defeat Billion. Whether or not this is canon is up to you. It was from Megaranger vs. Carranger, the second somewhat canon crossover (Kakuranger vs. Ohranger is NOT canon). This was later used in Dekaranger in a mission to rescue both Doggy and Dekasilver from Aburera's evil scheme to blast off a building. This dons them with newfound powers such as x-ray vision, radar and super hearing which could outclass Red One, Green Two and Blue 3. This upgrade could also help them see through disguises. This is SWAT mode. In Magiranger, this appeared in episode 30 as an upgrade. However due to its high powers, their powers temporarily went haywire if it weren't fixed by Lunagel.
This episode has Sematerei of the Broken Specter as their enemy and they must figure out how to use the power of the Abare Header, which is used by Bladerun to cause trouble.
Also in this episode, some monsters of the Yuumaju are temporarily brought back to life which also causes trouble.
It took the effort of Alata/Gosei Red to communicate with Abare Headers spirit to be able to access it. When he succeeds, they don these golden armor power ups. Ah these remind me of those team armors in the past. It helps them save the day.
Sadly, I'm losing my enthusiasm as of late. Sad but true. :-(
