Gokai VS Gavan: Confirmed!

After the confirmation of the Megaranger and Timeranger tributes, it is official. Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger vs. Gavan is officially confirmed! This epic crossover will premiere this January 21st.

Based on the previous rumors we had, Kenji Ohba will guest star as Retsu Ichijouji aka Gavan, Shiro Akebono aka Battle Kenya and Daigorou Oume aka DenziBlue. It is also rumored that the 36th Super Sentai team, Tokumei Sentai Gobuster will make a cameo. The only thing confirmed as of the moment is the title and the registration of the official website for the movie.

Earlier this month, Kamen Rider producer, Shinichirô Shirakura (Kamen Rider Kabuto, Kamen Rider Decade) was asked by a fan on Twitter if there would be a Metal Hero 30th Anniversary movie in which he replied in English, "That's a good question." Giving us a clue that he might be involved in this movie. Will this signal the revival of this classic tokusatsu franchise?

UPDATE: According to dukemon22, he got an info that Bandai will release Space Sheriff Gavan's Dolgiran into a GokaiMachine —GokaiMachine Series EX DolGiran.

Gaoki VS Hurricane: A whirlwind of epic combination

Compared to previous nostalgic episodes, I count this to be the most awesome two-parter ever for the following reasons:

The first three Hurricangers return but looking quite different, doesn't matter because they do kick major evil butt.  Unlike the others, they managed to regain their powers for some reason and fight with the Gokaigers.  It's really a bigger crossover.

Apparently Satakatura and Sandaaru managed to sire their juniors somewhere along the way before Jakanja eventually fell down.  Hee hee.  It's just funny as they were never heard of to have been married.  When were they born?  That's up to you to decide.  But I can really say, they're just as racist and cruel as their fathers.  They also play a lethal game that the Hurricangers beat them in- a game of cheating.

Marvelous, Luka and Joe transform into the Livemen.  Well just fitting knowing that Hurricanger has also been inspired by Liveman.  Hee hee.  But I wish Joe became Yellow Lion and Luka became Blue Dolphin instead.  So will there be a Liveman episode?  Hopefully.

Just a little sideline- Nao Nagasawa's new look is less childlike and more fitting for her age now.  Hee hee.

Saraba, 2010.

As 2010 finally ends this year, It finally all comes to a close. now it's time to lookback at stuff that happened in both the World of Disney Channel and the World of Tokusatsu.

1. A year of Cool, epic new shows

That 2010, We were treated to cool shows like Tensou Sentai GoSeiger, Good Luck Charlie, JONAS LA, Shake It Up and Kamen Rider OOO. Shake It Up brought back the Lizzie McGuire formula of everyday tween problems and situations while mixing elements from Hannah Montana and Sonny With a Chance, while Kamen Rider OOO brings forth the rider with the most forms via medals. Good Luck Charlie reintroduces the formula of a normal family first found in Even Stevens (in fact, it's been 10 years since Stevens) while Tensou Sentai GoSeiger, brings back powered protectors (last seen in Boukenger), no "all mechas combined" formation (since Gekiranger), and a no identity 6th Ranger since Hurricanger.

2. The movies that excite us

2010 is another reason for movies and such. Toku movies like Super Hero Time: The Movie 2010 (Kamen Rider W FOREVER A-Z: The Gaia Memories of Fate and Tensou Sentai GoSeiger: Epic on the Movie), Ultraman Zero The Movie, The Cho Den-O Trilogy movies, and Kamen Rider Movie Wars Core exicted toku fans, while Disney Channel Original Movies like 16 Wishes, Avalon High (pictured above), StarStruck, Den Brother and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam were the servings of that year for tween viewers. Disney Stars got in the act too in the big screen, with  Zac Efron's Charlie St. Cloud and Selena Gomez's Ramona and Beezus leading the pack.

3. The lucky number 18

2010 was also the year 3 Disney Girls finally turned legit in the eyes of most of their boy fans. Starting with Selena Gomez (July 22), then Demi Lovato (August 22), and finally Miley Cyrus (November 23), these 3 finally bloomed. The only guy that was the same age of them this year, who also turned legit too, was Nick Jonas.

4. The time their shows say goodbye

In the episode shooting part of their shows, Both The Suite Life on Deck and Hannah Montana Forever ends their filming of episodes on their last day of shooting their last episodes. Kamen Rider W, on the other hand, while their filming of the show was already over, finally bids farewell that August 2010. however, their adventure is not over yet, as evidenced in Movie Wars Core.

5. The crumbling of Miley and Demi's World

The year that they became 18 was also the year things didn't go well for them. Miley had much a problem from dressing provocatively to her parents finally divorcing. Demi on the other hand, lost her boyfriend (Joe Jonas) to Ashley Greene, her friend died (not Selena, fortunately), and because her bad past caught up with her, ended up punching her backup dancer and threatening Ashley, all leading to her going to rehab to heal herself. but it got worse when her haters banded together and started brining up false rumors to bring her down.

As we finally say farewell in a few hours (some countries may have been already finished celebrating New Year's Day), it's time to let go of the bad memories of that year and bring with us the happiest ones for this year. in 2011, We have lots to look forward too, like the upcoming Kaizoku Sentai Goukaiger, the Sentai version of Kamen Rider Decade, Demi Lovato's comeback, and Hannah Montana's final episode.

so 2010... We'll miss you.

"Now, count up your crimes!"

Movie Wars CORE starts @ no.1 spot

Kamen Rider Skull Wallpaper
This year's Movie Wars film has exceeded every tokusatsu fan's expectations. Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider OOO & W feat Skull: Movie Wars CORE debuted on #1 at the box office this weekend!

According to EigaMovie Wars CORE defeated four other opening movies namely Tron: Legacy (#4), Shrek Forever After (#5), Saigo no Chuushingura (#6), and Burlesque (#9) for the top spot. Other movies included on the top 10 are Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I (#2, 5th week), Space Battleship Yamato (#3, 3rd week), Norweigan Wood (#7, 2nd week), Bushi no Kakeibo (#8, 4th week) and Robin Hood (#10, 2nd week)

As far as my info goes, Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider OOO & W feat Skull: Movie Wars CORE is the third Heisei Kamen Rider movie to grab the top spot on its opening weekend. I'm still researching on the first two movies. They are Kamen Rider Den-O & Kiva: Climax Deka and Kamen Rider Decade: All Riders vs Dai-Shocker.

Special thanks to nerefir of HJU for the tip and translation, and Aoi Kurenai of HJUfor the the additional info

Goseiger VS Shinkenger: Epic on the Silver Screen coming in 2011

Tensou Sentai Goseiger vs Shinkenger: Epic on the Silver Screen
It's the time of the year again for another Super Sentai team-up movie. And this time, it's going to be Tensou Sentai Goseiger vs Shinkenger: Epic on the Silver Screen that will be shown this January 2011.

Tensou Sentai Goseiger vs Shinkenger: Epic on the Silver Screen
Similar to all Super Sentai VS movies, the movie took place after the events of the previous series, Samurai Sentai Shinkenger, and in the middle of the current series, Tensou Sentai Goseiger. Since the Yuumaju will be one of the movie's villains, this could be a little before or just after the Gosei Angels defeat the Yuumaju, and just before the Matrintis showed up.

Tensou Sentai Goseiger vs Shinkenger: Epic on the Silver ScreenIn Tensou Sentai Goseiger vs Shinkenger: Epic on the Silver Screen, an evil ShinkenRed will appear, which will be called NiseShinkenRed (nise - fake, imitation). It will be revealed that the Gedoushu's remaining member, Hone no Shitari, is the one who created it. It's unconfirmed if it's Shiba Takeru or some other guy playing as him.

The head of the Gedoushu, Chimatsuri Dokoku, and two Buredorans (Suisei and Chupacabra), are also said to appear in Tensou Sentai Goseiger vs Shinkenger: Epic on the Silver Screen. How that happened? That's for us to find out.

One of the things to watch out on Tensou Sentai Goseiger vs Shinkenger: Epic on the Silver Screen film is the team-up battle against the Yuumaju and the Gedoushu. The Gosei Angels are in Super Goseiger mode along with GoseiKnight, and the our samurai heroes have manage to use Super Shinkenger at the same time while Takeru is in Hyper ShinkenRed.

Tensou Sentai Goseiger vs Shinkenger: Epic on the Silver Screen
And similar to what happened in Samurai Sentai Shinkenger vs Go-Onger: Silver Screen BANG!!! wherein the Goseigers made their first appearance, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger will also make their first appearance in Tensou Sentai Goseiger vs Shinkenger: Epic on the Silver Screen movie.

Tensou Sentai Goseiger vs Shinkenger: Epic on the Silver Screen will be shown in Japanese theaters on January 22, 2011.

OOO and W Movie Taisen title comfirmed

To those who remembered, it was announced after Kamen Rider W FOREVER: A to Z - The Gaia Memories of Fate that there will be an upcoming Movie Wars film this December. Now, the title of the film is now confirmed! It will be Kamen Rider X Kamen Rider OOO & W feat. Skull: Movie Taisen Core.

The film is said to premiere this December 18. Aside from that, you can order some merchandise related to the film as early as December, but this is not our main focus for this film. Early rumors circulating about how the film will be like, and here are some of them.

- Phillip uses the Lost Driver to transform into Kamen Rider Cyclone. Akiko transforms into Skull. Terui is on a business trip.
- Sokichi's first request was to stop a bomb in Futo. The story how he obtained the Lost Driver will finally be told. A young Akiko will appear.
- OOO finds an armor medal a sword medal.
- The final enemy is a Dopant who finds a medal. Skull, Double and OOO will cooperate.
- Kamen Rider Baasu appears. He uses an installation henshin system. Baasu's eyes are not circular, but U shaped, (colored black) and he looks very original, something unlike any other hero before. The lower half of his "U" eyes glow red, and he almost resembles Hakaider, complete with a capsuluar head.
- Sonozaki Fumine (Shroud) and Narumi Soukichi are childhood friends.
- Their partner seems to be played by Tarou Yamamoto (or this could be the character's name)
- "San Dopant" is mentioned, as are Bat and Spider.
- The movie will be more serious than comedic, and it seems as though it will bring Akiko to a darker place as well.

Aside from that, we have found some early production photos for the upcoming film!

Seiji Tekaiwa in W HeatJoker suit fighting what seems to be a Dopant or Yummy Pterodactyl. It seems that the videos circulating of a possible OOO Dinosaur Medals are really true. But why is it to be purple?!

Koji Kikawa (Sokichi Narumi/Kamen Rider Skull), signing a kids shirt while filming!

The Decade-Shinkenger teamup lookback

There was the Shinkenger and Decade crossover which happened in episode 24-25 of Decade NOT in Shinkenger. So it was kind of a cross between worlds. Hmmm... it'll be hard for fans in their imagination to fit in the Kamen Rider Universe into the Sentai Universe for any fan-fiction Toei allows them by making both universes officially up to fan's imagination.

It's not the first time that Kamen Rider was mentioned. If you can remember the Goranger vs. JAKQ movie, Shoutarou Ishinomori intended that his Sentai warriors be in the same universe as Kamen Rider. However as time passed, it wasn't official and fans were left to speculate how they operated within the same universe.

The idea came into fruition NOT in Super Sentai but in Power Rangers. Not everything in Sentai is original. Power Rangers did contribute some things to later Sentai too even if they're the franchise version, Saban had originality. It was way back then then Saban created the crossover in the 3-part series entitled "A Friend in Need" in MMPR which however got me disappointed why Kimberly Hart had to suffer from a cold. Sigh. I kept feeling bad about her cold and Tommy not being near her. The whole mini-series was intended to introduce the adaptation of Black RX to America. It focused five rangers minus Kimberly Hart in Edenoi which was conquered by Count Dregon, using footage from Kamen Rider Black RX episode 3 in many scenarios.

Sadly the Kamen Rider Black RX adaptation was a failure I believe because Power Rangers got too powerful that fans didn't bother to watch other toku adaptations plus it lacked plot. A funny show doesn't always have a poor plot, it's how the humor gets executed that affects the show. Saban's Masked Rider was JUST AWFUL!

Somehow Toei saw through livening up the whole idea in the two part Shinkenger crossover, which Decade travels into the world of Shinkenger. Unlike the MMPR idea where he wanted to introduce Masked Rider to the audience of MMPR, Toei did the opposite. Decade (which only lasted for 31 episodes :-( ) actually wanted to introduce Shinkenger to Kamen Rider fans. The whole plot involved the crossing and Decade meets the Shinkengers.

The whole two part episode for me was more fun IMO than the three part MMPR crossover because they were complete and there was much more action, even if they didn't travel to another planet. I just can't help but laugh at how silly Genta can get when Diend stole his Ika-Origami. I'm also glad that Mako Shiraishi doesn't have to stay in bed with a cold like poor Kimberly Hart did.

The thing is the Gedoushu also gets involved in trying to get rid of Decade as well in which, puts Doukoku in a more active spot than Lord Zedd was during the MMPR crossover. However what I can complain about this show is that, it was more of a random meeting than a mission sent to them. Again Sentai commanders are frequently shown to be less powerful than Zordon which balances the whole franchise, even Mr. Voice doesn't know as much as Zordon does.

The show ended up paying tribute to the "Friend in Need" arc when the next Decade episode was focused on Black RX. As the crossover ended, we see a picture of Crisis Empire hinting at "A Friend in Need" although this was much shorter.

However when Saban adapts Shinkenger (and I hope he does cross the line once of an Oriental red ranger then that's the end of it), I wonder if he'll ever put Decade into it. I think not. He may have a hard time knowing how his other toku adapts failed. They're not that strong as Power Rangers.

GoSeiger cameo debut on Shinkenger VS Go-Onger

To my biggest surprise, Tensou Sentai Goseiger will make a cameo appearance on the upcoming Samurai Sentai Shinkenger vs Engine Sentai Go-onger Silver Screen BANG! team-up movie. This will also be the first time people will see them in action prior to the series' air date.

The Goseigers will help the Shinkengers and Go-ongers in defeating Pollution President Batcheed (the movie's main villain) and the Gedoushu. It is not confirmed yet if the Goseiger's alter-egos will make an appearance and will do their first henshin sequence.

Credits to JEFusion for this surprise.

Lookback at 2009 in Youth media

Well it's only hours to go before 2010, so I'd give it a shot of reminiscing everything that happened in 2009... In Disney and Toku that is! shall we start?

1. A year of new shows, Kamen Rider and the first time of the same month debut
This year was a cool year for all shows. 2009 was the year of Kamen Rider, as evidenced w/ the 10th Heisei Series Kamen Rider Decade and Kamen Rider Double in Japan, the return of Kamen Rider in the US via the Wang brothers' Kamen Rider Dragon Knight- a US true to the source remake of Ryuki- and for the Philippine viewers, an English dub of Kamen Rider Kabuto.

February also was the month of debut for 3 shows: Disney Channel's Sonny with a Chance (Feb. 8), Disney XD's original tokusatsu Aaron Stone (Feb. 13) and TV Asahi's Samurai Sentai Shinkenger (Feb. 15). Other shows debuted outside February include JONAS, Zeke and Luther, and Tomica Hero Rescue Fire.

2. A year of epic cool movies
This year was also a good time for movies esp. in the Tokusatsu industry. Movies like Shinkenger: The Fateful War (first Sentai movie in Digital 3D), Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legend The Movie, Kamen Rider × Kamen Rider Double & Decade: Movie War 2010 (which shows the backstory for Double and continuation to KR Decade), as well as the -almost- hit "The Jonas Brothers: The 3D concert Experience" (I know it's not toku but it's Disney), and The grandest anniversary anime movie (I know it's not toku but it's Toei), "Pretty Cure All Stars DX: Everyone's Friends - the Collection of Miracles!".

But the two movies that caught everyone's fancy this year is nonetheless, Hannah Montana: The Movie and Kamen Rider Decade: All Riders VS GreatShocker. Those two films wowed audiences worldwide (In HM The Movie's case) and all around Japan (For All Riders VS GreatShocker), both ending in the No.1 box office.

TV movies wise, We got Dadnapped! (w/ David Henrie and Emily Osment), Hatching Pete (w/ Jason Dolley of the upcoming Good Luck Charlie), Princess Protection Program (w/ BFFs Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato) and of course, Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie, which clinched the spot of the 2nd highest rating Disney Channel Original Movie.

3. A year of teamups and an old team returns
This July was a month of teamup for both Disney Channel and Toku, but not just July, because December gives us the return of R1 MAX and R5 from Tomica Hero Rescue Force in a 2-parter in Tomica Hero Rescue Fire and in January this year, the Theatrical release of the 15th anniversary of sentai teamups, Engine Sentai Go-Onger VS Gekiranger.

July gave us the 1st Sentai and Kamen Rider teamup in Kamen Rider Decade and the sequel to That's so Suite Life of Hannah Montana, "Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana". both teamups were awesome, with Samurai Sentai Shinkenger joining forces w/ Kamen Rider Decade to battle a Gedoushu Ayakashi, and the Wizards of Waverly Place going to the SS Tipton and meeting the Twins and their gal pals and Hannah Montana joining in on the way to Hawaii.

4. A year of anniversaries

For 2009, This was the year things went well for Youth media. 1st off, the aforementioned 10th Heisei KR anniversary, as well as the aforementioned 15th anniversary of Sentai teamups. on the other side, another Toei franchise (even though it's not toku but still, it's Toei) is now 5 years old: The Pretty Cure Franchise. not to mention that Disney Channel Japan is the same year now as Pretty Cure this year.

5. A year of being "green"
This year also began Disney's seriousness in protecting the Environment with "Disney's Friends for Change: Project Green" where all Disney Channel stars (with the exception of Disney XD's Zeke and Luther" cast members, also joining in the project) tell the youth to participate in saving and protecting the environment, which DID happen! Definitely, Jose Rizal's words ring true in this project (of the youth being the hope of the motherland), and was a hit success.

6. A year when Lizzie finally comes home
September 2009 was the month when the Disney Channel Original Series "Lizzie McGuire" comes home to Disney Channel US after 3 years of being Syndicated to WGN America in the US. Many Lizzie Fans rejoiced and it because a Topic Thread in Twitter on the day it came back on the air. Truly, the one that started it all comes home and everyone welcomed her home, and now a new generation of viewers will see what they're missing.

There's much more to tell but I'm afraid it ends here. Now we have to prepare ourselves for 2010, where more things await us: Tensou Sentai GoSeiger, The Last Song, Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam... and more in store next year.

So 2009... WHAT A YEAR IT WAS!!!

We'll miss you '09. Indeed, what a year.

Hyper Go-On Red confirmed!

Hyper Go-OnRed
Here's the official photo scan of Hyper Go-onRed, that will debut on Samurai Sentai Shinkenger vs Engine Sentai Go-onger team-up movie.

Go-onRed will indeed use Kyouryumaru to become Hyper Go-onRed. But since he's holding Mantan Gun Rod Mode, and doesn't hold Kyouryumaru, we didn't know what happened and how did ShinkenRed be able to transform to Super ShinkenRed. What I'm thinking is, maybe Ren (Go-onBlue) created a Special Engine Soul for Go-onRed to transform into that form.

July is teamup month!

July is the US Independence month, but it's also the month for two cool teamups! And what better way than to enjoy these teamups is to watch it with your friends. This July, two teamups will happen- one for Wizards of Waverly Place, The Suite Life on Deck and Hannah Montana, and one for Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and Kamen Rider Decade.

That said, here's what will happen on these five shows:

Cast-Away (To Another Show)” – Justin (David Henrie) is excited to meet London Tipton (Brenda Song) when he wins the essay contest prize, a cruise on the SS Tipton. Alex (Gomez) and Max (Jake T. Austin) get to go aboard too, where Alex bonds with new BFF Bailey (Debby Ryan), but soon gets in hot water when she uses magic to bring Harper (Jennifer Stone) aboard. Meanwhile, Max and Zack (Sprouse) compete in a series of outrageous challenges.

Double-Crossed“– Hannah Montana (Miley Cyrus) boards the SS Tipton on her way to a concert performance in Honolulu. To impress Bailey, Cody (Cole Sprouse) enlists Woody to help him get tickets. Meanwhile, the Russos use a little magic to spice up their vacation – Alex pulls a prank on Justin, for which Mr. Moseby (Phill Lewis) blames Zack, while Max introduces London to a magical suitcase.

Super(stitious) Girl“– While on the ship deck, Miley loses the charm ankle bracelet that her mother gave her and, when things start to go wrong, she is sure it’s because she lost her lucky charm. Meanwhile, Cody tells Bailey that he has a close friendship with Hannah and promises great seats to her concert.

In Shinkenger: Kaitou Daiki comes to steal Ika Origami from ShinkenGold, Genta. An Ayakashi henshins into Diend, giving birth to a rider in a world where there has never been a rider before! Tsukasa and Takeru team up with the others to defeat the evil Diend to bring back both IkaOrigami and DiendDriver.

In Decade: Tsukasa and the others ends up into the Shinkenger World. They saw an Ayakashi steals the DiendDriver from Kaitou.

Look forward for this never before seen team-up in the tokusatsu world.

Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana premieres 7/17 @ 8PM ET/PT on Disney Channel!

The Shinkenger/Decade teamup will begin next week (7/12) on Kamen Rider Decade.
